What Are Veneers?
Veneers are wafer-thin “covers” of tooth-coloured material. Material types can be either porcelain, ceramic or composite bonding material. Dr. David will ‘cement’ the material to the front surface of the tooth or teeth to improve the overall appearance. Hence, they are a great solution for whitening teeth that have intrinsic stains. The complete surface of the tooth will be covered which makes them a very versatile solution. It’s the versatility and ease of reshaping that makes it a popular choice alongisde composite bonding.
Reasons for Veneers
Dental veneers are also used to treat stained teeth which cannot be improved by teeth whitening. Also a great solution to treat damaged teeth which are chipped, broken or worn from excessive grinding.
A small chip on a tooth can quickly be repaired with composite bonding or a porcelain veneer.
Both solutions are also used to fill small gaps or spaces between front teeth (different to a bridge treatment which is used to fill a gap as a result of a missing tooth).
